Ben oversees research projects at the intersection of game design, urban planning, and participatory culture. Advising new ventures in data visualization, ubiquitous computing, reactive architecture, and urban play. Consulting on advanced devices and services with clients such as Arup, Google, Philips, and Nintendo.
Ben Cerveny is serving as advisor to several rapidly evolving ventures, such as Stamen Design. Previously, he was Founder of the Experience Design Lab at Frog Design, an international product design company, and a lead game designer and platform development strategist at Ludicorp(Flickr). Cerveny is a ten-year veteran of the interaction design field. His past endeavors include UI design work for network media manipulation applications at Be Inc. and Silicon Graphics, and the management of the research and development group at web services agency Organic. Following his first degree in Critical Theory from the University of California, Ben Cerveny studied at the MediaLab at MIT. He has taught seminars in information design at the Art Center College of Design, the University of California, and the San Francisco Art Institute. He speaks frequently at conferences regarding the practices of data visualization, urban information systems, and game design.
Juha van ‘t Zelfde – Co-Founder
Juha is founder of Non-fiction, Office for Cultural Innovation, a vehicle for experiments in art, technology and urban culture. He also started Viral Radio, an experimental platform for electronic music. Viral Radio has a bi-weekly radio show on public network VPRO 3voor12, and hosts a monthly club night at one of Amsterdam’s most impressive clubs TrouwAmsterdam. Viral Radio also collaborates with jazz and improvised music venue Bimhuis, social music platform CDR, and project space De Verdieping.
James Burke – Co-Founder
He currently works as freelance interaction designer and user experience architect under the moniker of Lifesized. He is involved with Dutch and European initiatives on open government data and is a co-founder of Hackdeoverheid, which organisizes events around government-related themes and helps government agencies improve public services. He is also a co-founder of The Roomware Project , an open-source framework for making indoor spaces interactive and the P2P Foundation.
